Sofía is Partner at Consortium Legal – Guatemala with more than 15 years of experience in corporate law, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. She has advised national and international companies on shareholder agreements, contracts, foreign investment, corporate governance, and business restructuring, with significant expertise in regulated sectors, particularly mining. She also advises on family business structuring and succession planning.

She is among the few Guatemalan attorneys admitted to the New York Bar, which positions her to handle complex cross-border transactions with international standards.

In her professional career, she has served as Director of Corporate Affairs for a multinational mining company, taught the Strategic Resources seminar, and worked as an assistant professor of Tax Law. Currently, she serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Transforma, the local chapter of Women in the Profession at the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, promoting gender equity and leadership within the legal profession.
