Tony Kyriakides is a Senior Associate at Harris Kyriakides, practising across the firm’s Real Estate Advisory, Real Estate Litigation, and Employment Law departments. His work focuses on real estate transactions and disputes, as well as employment law matters, both contentious and advisory. He is also regularly involved in corporate transactions where real estate assets or employment-related elements play a central role.
In the real estate sector, Tony advises a wide range of clients, including property developers, institutional investors, credit-acquiring companies, and banks, on transactions involving the acquisition, development, leasing, and disposal of immovable property. His practice includes legal due diligence, structuring and negotiating long-term lease agreements, and advising on landlord-tenant relations.
He frequently represents credit-acquiring companies and banking institutions in repossession proceedings before the District Courts of Cyprus. On the advisory side, he supports clients with regulatory compliance, transaction structuring, and a broad spectrum of matters concerning Cyprus land law.
Tony advises both domestic and international employers across the full range of employment matters. His work includes reviewing and drafting employment contracts and internal policies, advising on disciplinary actions, performance management, terminations, and redundancy processes. He also supports clients with the negotiation of collective agreements and provides guidance on union-related issues and employment law compliance in scenarios such as workplace restructuring and outsourcing.
He has represented clients before the Labour Disputes Court in proceedings involving unfair dismissal, breach of contract, and other employment-related claims. Tony’s employment law expertise is frequently sought in the context of corporate transactions, particularly where compliance with TUPE regulations and post-acquisition employee harmonisation are involved.
Tony is regularly involved in major corporate transactions where real estate and employment considerations are essential. Amongst others, he advised Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd in its €48.6 million acquisition of ExxonMobil Cyprus Ltd, a significant deal in the Cypriot energy sector. He also acted for Venus Wine & Spirit Merchants PLC in its acquisition by Booker Limited, a leading UK wholesale distributor and subsidiary of Tesco, a complex cross-border transaction that was shortlisted for Deal of the Year at the 2025 Insider South East Dealmakers Awards. In addition, he was part of the team that advised Eurobank Greece, through Grivalia Management Company, on the acquisition of a landmark commercial property on Kifissias Avenue in Athens.
Tony is the co-author of The Law of Tenancy in Cyprus, a book recognised as a leading reference on tenancy law in Cyprus and widely used by legal professionals and property sector stakeholders.
Tony is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and an active contributor to its Real Estate Committee, where he participates in policy dialogue and legislative developments affecting the real estate sector.
He also serves on the Board of the Harris Kyriakides Foundation, reinforcing his engagement in both the legal profession and the wider community and is a board member of Oxygen for Democracy, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to enhancing the policy-making process by promoting participation, transparency, and scientific integrity in the Republic of Cyprus.
