Biography
Anndrea holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D) from the University of Malta and a Master’s Degree in International Maritime Law (LL.M) from the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI), established under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the United Nations.
Throughout her distinguished career, Anndrea has built a strong reputation advising both local and international clients across a wide range of specialized areas, including:
- Yachting & Maritime Operations: Expert guidance on vessel registration under the Malta flag, yacht administration, and tailor-made solutions for asset acquisitions.
- Commercial & Financial Transactions: Structuring vessel mortgages, securing interests for mortgagees/mortgagors, and handling corporate restructurings.
- Maritime Labor & Compliance: Specialist advice on seafarer employment, import/export regulations, VAT, and anti-money laundering procedures.
- Residence & Investment: Advising international clients on residence and citizenship applications under Maltese law.
Anndrea joined AML in July 2026 and is responsible for heading the Legal Department and business development.
Beyond her practical experience, Anndrea is an active figure in the maritime legal community. She serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Malta Maritime Law Association (MMLA) and is a member of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP) and the Maltese Bar Association. She is also fluent in Maltese, English, Italian, and French.

In 2002, a team of ex-captains who lived and breathed the vessels led the way to develop practices that ensure any challenges faced within our clients day-to-day operations were met with as much efficiency to ensure the best tailor-made outcome. With a team boasting over 30 years of experience, AML offers a comprehensive range of maritime services. Our expertise spans ship management, Malta Flag vessel registration, technical maritime operations, crew management and seafaring, corporate governance and accounting.
Our services cover a multiple of disciplines. We offer solutions from securing the right crew to vessels, port and husbandry agency services, importation of yachts and managing yacht leasing structures, registering vessels under the Malta flag and any corporate-related matters. Everything we do is provided directly with our own 24hr advisors who have a deep knowledge of the vessels, based in Malta, the heart of the Mediterranean.

What first drew you to this profession—a specific moment, or something that built over time?
I have always been inclined to the law profession since I can remember. the idea of finding solutions to assist others was very intriguing to me.
What’s the most rewarding part of the job?
Finding a solution to assist a client especially when the matters looks like a done deal.
What’s the most challenging aspect?
Not enough hours in the day.

Acquisition of a yacht: inclusive of tax matters; legal matters; administrative; crew

The possibility of meeting new people and being able to work with people who come recommended
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting out in your profession, what would it be?
Listen and take your time to learn; do not rush, there is time.

What’s a skill from outside your profession that’s turned out to be surprisingly useful in it?
Working well and focused under pressure
Is there a case or piece of work you’re particularly proud of (without breaking confidentiality)?
All those clients and captains that were so happy with the outcome of the transaction that they kept on referring to me for advice
What’s something that surprised you the first time you worked across a different jurisdiction?
Prevention of money laundering laws are different and less stringent than in Malta
What do you wish clients understood before working across borders?
The importance of roping in all legal and tax advisers in one thread as every jurisdiction has different practices, and there is no one size fits all when it comes to legal and tax.

How do you like to switch off after a demanding case or project?
A glass of wine and a good book
What’s a value or principle you try to bring to every piece of work you take on?
Everything is a representation of yourself: be in advising, formatting, discussing, being available. It all makes up who you are and that is what will attract people
